Why Other Glass‑Bead Systems May Fail—and Why We Only Use Designer Beadcrete®

Cheap or unproven glass bead mixes often disappoint due to inconsistency, poor bond strength, or colour fading. CleanTech Pools strictly adheres to Designer Beadcrete® standards—we do not install alternative, untested bead mixes.

Colour Inconsistency & Fading
 Homemade or crudely mixed bead renders can fade, discolor quickly, or lack precise colour performance guaranteed by factory batching
Weak Bonding to Substrate
Non‑accredited bead mixes may not bond uniformly, leading to delamination. Designer Beadcrete® must be installed by accredited applicators.
Rough or Abrasive Texture

The Designer Beadcrete® Installation Process

CleanTech Pools follows Designer Beadcrete® 's installation guidelines step‑by‑step, guaranteeing quality, warranty compliance, and finish longevity.

Site Inspection & Thickness Protocol
  • Confirm concrete shell integrity
  • Assess moisture content and surface profile
  • Select appropriate Designer Beadcrete® colour (Islands, Crystal, or custom blend)
Surface Preparation
  • Acid etch or mechanical abrade substrate for keying
  • Remove algae, scaling or loose concrete
  • Ensure fully dry surface before application
Render Application
  • Apply Designer Beadcrete® via steel or magnesium trowel in multiple passes
  • Build sufficient film thickness while locking glass beads into polymer cement matrix
Finishing Polished Surface
  • Steel trowel finish produces uniform shimmer and depth
  • No surface broadcast required—beads are uniformly dispersed in mix
Cure, Inspect & Waterfill
  • Cure time usually 24–48 hours before filling
  • Inspect for uniform colour, adhesion, thickness, and sheen
  • Balance pool chemistry before first swim

Optional Base Coat Application - For renovations, we always apply a specialised bonding agent and base coat prior to the beadcrete. This helps level the old surface and create the perfect foundation for the glass-bead system to adhere properly.
